May Is for Remembering Those Who Serve

5 Contrary to popular belief, MAY 5, Cinco de Mayo, is not Mexico’s Independence Day. (That’s Sept. 16.) Nevertheless, it’s a day to celebrate Mexican culture — and an opportunity to sell promotional signage to restaurantes in your area.

12 is International Nurses Day. Think you had it tough during the height of the pandemic? This day gives all of us a chance to reflect on the literally vital role nurses play in our world, and an occasion to thank them.

19While many often criticize our local, state and national governments, MAY 19 marks Celebrate Your Elected Officials Day. After all, we couldn’t function without them! So, on this day, let’s put our partisan differences aside and thank our public office-holders.

29 Memorial Day is MAY 29 this year. More than just a day off work and the “unofficial start to summer,” the true intention of this holiday is to honor those armed forces members who died while fighting for their country and our freedom. Let’s all make sure to remember that.
