Painting Hawks History

Adam McNeil of McNeil Signs (Atlanta) recently completed a month-long, multifaceted signpainting project for the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks at the team’s downtown Atlanta headquarters. The eye-catching portion of the project is the logo history wall, which details the progression of the Hawks’ logo since the franchise moved to Atlanta from St. Louis in 1968.

“It was a lot of fun painting these, especially the older/first two logos,” McNeil said. The project also includes inspirational quotes, including one from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “The time is always right to do what is right.” McNeil used pounce patterns for each of the walls, a range of different-sized brushes and Benjamin Moore Regal Select paint.
