MetLife Inks $400 Million Naming-Rights Deal for Meadowlands Stadium

During the late 1990s through early 2000s, large corporations buying stadium naming-rights were all the rage. However, as the economy began melting down several years ago, the practice diminished. Bucking recent trends, MetLife Insurance signed a deal to gain naming rights of New Meadowlands Stadium in The Meadowlands, NJ, home of the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets. The 25-year pact, worth approximately $400 million, will rechristen the facility MetLife Stadium.

As part of the agreement, four illuminated MetLife signs will be installed around the facility. ST will publish information about the signs and photos once they become available.
