Nissan Cube Wrap Takes Alien Form to Promote Mini-Golf Course

Finding a miniature-golf course in Florida is about as challenging as finding a slot machine in Nevada. The Sunshine State’s economy relies on tourism to fill its coffers – especially since the housing bubble’s burst and ongoing economic malaise shuttered many businesses and forced other professionals and entrepreneurs to flee the state – and those geometric tracts of artificial turf with kitschy sculptures that attempt to block the dimpled ball from hitting the tin cup.

The proprietors of Hollywood Drive-In Golf – which is located at Universal Studios’ CityWalk – who proudly tout their enterprise as “Orlando’s Premiere Miniature-Golf Experience”, wanted to make their branding mobile. So, they enlisted Media1 Signs (Longwood, FL) to create an approximately 200-sq.-ft. wrap. To appear trendy and provide a broad backdrop for the graphics, the client selected a Nissan Cube to provide the “substrate.” Shop designer Damon Coppola created the playful wrap, which features aliens and reflects the branding for the “Invaders from Planet Putt” extraterrestrial-themed course, using 3M Controltac IJ180Cv3-10 air-release media, which it decorated on the shop’s HP Designjet L25500 latex-ink printer. 3M Scotchcal 8518 glossy overlaminate protects the aliens. Installers applied the wrap with rollers and 3M Gold nylon squeegees.
