Nordic Ecolabelling Approves EFI VUTEk Ink

EFI (Foster City, CA) has announced its VUTEk® QS Series r Ink as approved by the Nordic Ecolabelling Board, and that its customers may now reference their use of the approved ink when applying for a Nordic Ecolabelling license. To achieve Nordic Ecolabelling status, print companies must agree to critical protocols that include the use of approved media and ink, including Vutek’s QS Series r Ink.

The Swan logo is the official ecolabel of the Nordic countries. The Nordic Ecolabel group’s aim is to benefit society through supporting sustainable business practices and consumerism.

The official Ecolabel covers 66 product categories, including printing businesses, cleaning products, furniture, toys, hotels and restaurants. More than 200 printing companies throughout Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Finland and their entire supply chain meet are ecolabel-licensed. The qualification groups a qualifying company with the region’s least polluting, print-industry businesses.

The voluntary, Nordic Ecolabel approval process for inks comprises tests to ensure the absence of environmentally harmful substances, health hazards, problematic chemicals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and such heavy metals as lead and mercury.

EFI said its VUTEk QS Series r Ink is among the first approved for referencing in a print business’s application for its Nordic Ecolabelling license.
