Signage Foundation Announces Industry Internship

Ken Von Wald, chairman of the Signage Foundation Inc., is announcing a gift from North Shore Neon Sign Co. (Libertyville, IL) that will subsidize an internship – the Foundation’s first — for a student from the University of Cincinnati’s (UC) School of Planning. The student selected for the internship, Cody E. Meyer, is studying urban planning at UC, which offers the only accredited, undergraduate planning degree that requires co-op education. He participated in the university’s Signage Studio last summer, as well as the 2009 National Signage Research and Education Conference (NSREC).

At North Shore, Meyer will learn the full spectrum of the company’s operations and best practices for on-premise signage, network with regulatory agencies and industry vendors, among other duties, under the supervision of Duane Laska, the company’s president. He’ll also assist with the Signage Foundation’s exhibit at the 2010 ISA Sign Expo and American Planning Assn. conference.
