Omax Inc. (Kent, WA) is presenting its 2626 JetMachining® Center. The system features a “computer first, move later” motion-control system that includes CAD/CAM software and online support, as well as rigidly mounted X/Y axes; a durable, abrasive-feed system with Omax’s MaxJet® 5 nozzle assembly; an ultra-high-pressure, direct-drive pump; and a motorized, Z axis. According to the company, an abrasive-waterjet system proves beneficial because it can process myriad materials and thicknesses, doesn’t exact mechanical stress, creates a smooth, satin finish, and neither requires nor produces noxious gases, liquids or oils. The 2626 proves a 46 x 31 in. table size, provides a 29 x 26-in. X/Y axes path, and cuts substrates at a standard speed of 180 in./minute.
