The Proveer brand for 25 sign-supply distributorships was launched at the ISA Sign Expo 2009 show in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 15. Signs Supply USA (Pompano Beach, FL) had acquired East West Plastic (Toronto), arguably Canada’s largest sign-supply distributor, in 2007. Subsequently, Sign Supply acquired Hammocks Sign Supplies, Vinyl Sign Supply, Xpert Sign Supply and Standard Neon to become the largest North American sign-supply distributor with 24 branches, six of which are in Canada.
The name, derived from the Latin “providere,” means “to provide, supply or stock.” The logo includes the compass used in the East West logo.
The company has also announced its Platinum Partnership Program (P3) that includes the following product manufacturers: Avery Graphics, Coroplast, Graphtec, HP, Kommerling, Magnum Magnetics, Nudo Products, Oracal, Roland, Seiko Instruments, U.S. LED and United Industries.
Proveer’s 94-page catalog lists the addresses and contact information, as well as the geographic area served, of the 24 branches. It divides the product offerings into seven categories: acrylic/polycarbonate; equipment/software/ink; electrical; inkjet media and banners; substrates and frames; tools/accessories/paint; and vinyl and tape. Additionally, the catalog provides a more detailed alphabetical list of products. Each P3 company has a full-page ad in the catalog.
Presently, the Sign Supply USA and East West Plastic names will be retained, but both are planned to be phased out in approximately a year. Some geographically proximate branches may be eliminated, but others will be added, as growth is expected. No personnel changes have occurred with a week after the ISA show.
East West Plastic was founded in 1985, and Sign Supply USA was founded in 1989. Proveer is owned by Liberty Lane (Hampton, NH), a private investment firm.
