Manager's To Do

Refresh Your Website, Spring Cleaning and More Manager’s To-Do Items for May

May 3-9

Facilities If you haven’t already done so, a “spring clean” should be on your list for early May, including the addition of some summer-season décor as well as the tossing out of accumulated junk. You want to be ready as more customers hopefully return to visiting your shop.

Marketing Get more active with Facebook and Instagram. Regularly post new photos of completed installs/signs so people can see what you do.

May 10-16

Pricing Consider raising some prices to pass along the costs of the raises for staff, supply and software cost increases, higher payroll taxes, etc. With the economy expected to rebound as the country opens, now may be the best time to sneak those in.

Marketing Refresh your website and social media with a focus on your new capabilities, such as your new laser router or bucket truck. Getting the word out to new and existing customers is always a priority.

May 17-23

Finance Organize expenditures, prep for growth with calendar commitments and lay solid groundwork for increased volume.

Marketing Send postcards to 1,000 customers and/or prospects and deliver gift boxes to your top 50 prospects as a means of strategic planning.

May 24-30

Estimating Reserve a section in your weekly planner for estimates and follow-ups. After sending off an estimate, add that client’s name to your list of follow-ups for the following week. Not only does this allow you to keep estimates organized, it also helps ease estimate-to-invoice turnover analysis.

Community Keep the meaning of Memorial Day — remembering those who gave their lives in support of our freedom — in mind by donating a Memorial Day banner, sign or wrap to a local VFW post or other military-supporting organization.
