The Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), Washington, D.C., has selected its new CEO. Clive Roux, who’s spent the previous three years as the CEO of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), began serving in his new role at SEGD effective December 3.
Prior to his executive position with IDSA, Roux spent 15 years in management with Philips Design, the product-design division of the Dutch conglomerate Royal Philips Electronics. Early in his tenure with Philips, he designed multidisciplinary Philips studios in Hong Kong, Singapore, Austria and India.
According to SEGD, while with IDSA, he focused the organization towards clear operational and financial goals, and implemented a strategic planning process that enhanced its educational programs, and updated the program’s digital presence, which boosted online traffic by more than 50%.
Amy Lukas, SEGD’s president and managing partner of Infinite Scale, a Salt Lake City-based design firm, said, "“Clive brings an amazing skill set to SEGD. We’re thrilled to welcome him to our community and look forward to seeing SEGD benefit from his broad experience in managing business, creative, and marketing functions across the spectrum from a design association to a large multinational corporation.”
A native of South Africa, he earned a bachelor’s degree for technology in industrial design from the University of Johannesburg.
