Shareholders Accept Autodesk’s Delcam Acquisition

Autodesk (San Rafael, CA), the producer of AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Maya and other 3D-sign-production softare, plans to acquired Delcam (Birmingham, England), which producues ArtCAM sign-fabrication software, as well as numerous other manufacturing-related programs. Delcam sharedholders approve the deal January 15 at a meeting in Birmingham. The acquisition is expected to be completed during February; terms were no disclosed.

According to Delcam, CIMdata’s NC Software Market Anaylsis Report indicated that, in 2012, Delcam enjoyed the hiest revenues and end-user payments among CAM-software vendors. The company’s statement also notes that the company offer complementary software, with Autodesk’s products oriented towards design and engineering and Delcam’s focused on manufacturing.

After the purchase is completed, Delcam will become an Autodesk subsidiary, and will focus on accelerating marketshare growth within the manufacturing sector.
