Texas Signshop Acquired by Large Electrical Contractor

Capital Architectural Signs (CAS) of Austin, TX is coming under new ownership after finding a suitor close to home.

The 26-year-old signshop, which specializes in wayfinding and ADA signage, has agreed to be acquired by the nearby Facility Solutions Group (FSG), a lighting and electrical contractor based in Austin.

FSG will integrate the shop’s staff, equipment and services into its existing FSG Signs division in north Austin, the company said.

Previously, FSG subcontracted interior wayfinding packages for clients. This deal brings those capabilities in-house.

The acquisition gives FSG a full complement of signmaking equipment including a laser cutting and etching booth, photopolymer machine, wide-format flatbed printer, graining machine, sandblasting booth, additional router tables and welders.

“Combining CAS’s set of skills with FSG’s capabilities under one roof will enable the resulting company to be a one-stop shop for a diverse customer base. The combined resources, and the resulting synergy, will enable FSG to offer a more comprehensive sign solution to a broader market,” said Michael Soheili, co-founder and general manager of CAS, in a prepared statement.

Facility Solutions Group is one of the nation’s largest lighting distributors and electrical contractors. Notably, the company installed the “AT&T Stadium” letters on top of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The company was founded in 1982 by CEO Bill Graham and COO Steve Byrne, who remain in those roles today. FSG employs more than 2000 people.
