U.S. Bank Acquiries Naming Rights for Minnesota Vikings’ Stadium

Stadium naming rights have become an immensely profitable revenue stream for professional sports teams. Minnapolis-based U.S. Bank, the nation’s fifth largest banking institution, has inked a deal with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings to become the namesake corporate sponsor for its facility, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. U.S. Bank will pay $11 million annually to have its name imprinted in five places on the stadium facade — most notably on the 467-ft.-long, rooftop sign.

The signage will buy U.S. Bank invaluable brand placement during live broadcasts of Vikings games, as well as during Super Bowl 51 in winter 2018 and the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four in 2019. The article notes that the bank wanted to expand its brand recognition along the East Coast.
