USSC Announces 2009 Sign Design Competition Winners

The United States Sign Council (USSC) recently announced the winners of the 2009 Sign Design Competition. USSC annually conducts the membership-wide competition to showcase its members’ outstanding projects in varied categories of sign usage.
This year, the judges were Charles Kelly of Clarke Systems (Allentown, PA); Susan Martisofski of Effective SignWorks (Burlington, NJ); and Bill Riedel of Riedel Sign Co. (Little Ferry, NJ).
A sign system for St. Augustine at the Lake, designed by Herb Young of River City Advertising of Jacksonville (FL), won the Best of Show award.
Award plaques will be presented at the 2009 Sign World USA in Atlantic City on Saturday, December 5, starting at 8:30 a.m.
Although the competition attracted 265 entries, categories 6 (Hand-Painted Vehicles), 7 (Digitally Printed Signs) and 8 (Hand-Painted Signs) weren’t judged categorically, and their entries were, instead, placed in other categories appropriate to their design.
