Winner Emerges in Faux Signage Feud

Two Lubbock, TX businesses recently used their changeable-copy monument signs to engage in a witty war of words. According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the bogus beef between the Wendy’s on Frankford Ave. and Pure Water Ice & Tea Company (located on the other side of the street) began when Pure Water offered Texas Tech University head football coach Kliff Kingsbury free drinks. Wendy’s countered by tendering Kingsbury free drinks and food. The ribbing escalated from there, with the back-and-forth including “You want beef Wendys? You’ve got it!” from Pure Water, which netted a rebuttal of “Come through and get served – you deserve it” from Wendy’s. Pure Water eventually claimed victory when Wendy’s corporate office ordered its franchisee to cease their sign-based shenanigans.
