3M Multi-Touch Display

3M Touch Systems Inc. (Austin, TX), a wholly owned subsidiary of 3M, is presenting the 3M Multi-Touch Display M2256PW. With its 20-plus-finger, multi-touch input and a wide viewing-angle LCD, the display is based on 3M Projected Capacitive Technology (3M PCT), with less than 6-millisecond response time for 20 simultaneous touches.
Suitable applications include CAD, digital signage, computer gaming, security-monitoring systems, education and training, and telepresence.
The display features a high-definition 1,680 x 1,050, 22-in., LCD screen, DVI and VGA video input, audio input, USB and RS232 (serial) dual-mode communication protocol, and an anti-glare front surface.
No additional drivers are required for operating with Windows 7. 3M offers a multi-touch driver and software utility for Linux and Windows XP/Vista/7, and it will offer communication-protocol documents for those who wish to develop their own drivers.
