A 1950’s NESA Artifact, AI Interest and more from October’s Inbox

Piece of History

  • I’m trying to find some history on a NESA* convention from 1956. I have a porcelain enamel souvenir from that convention which belonged to my father Bob Whorton, owner of Diversified Components Texas. He was a board member in the ’90s and this piece was in his tool box as long as I can remember. I have it now, a piece of NESA history. Thanks for any help I can get. — Richard Whorton, via Facebook

Editor’s note: NESA (National Electric Sign Association) was the original name of Isa (International Sign Association).

Intelligence Gathering

  • I would love to hear more about AI in the sign industry. I have no desire to use it but am starting to become concerned that if we do not, we will fall behind others who do use it. — Melvin La Pan, Fastsigns of Augusta, Augusta, GA

Relatable “Real Deal”

Suggestions

  • Some of the size of the [magazine’s] print is hard to read. — Jean Shimp, Shimp Sign & Design Inc., Jacksonville, FL
  • More articles on signshop operations from the owners or managers. — Cody McElroy, Commercial Signs, Houma, LA
