Alcan Composities USA Inc. (Mooresville, NC) has initiated its Care % Conserve sustainability program, which assesses the company’s supply chain from raw materials to disposal. The program is described in two pieces of literature, The People + Planet: Reducing/Reusing/Recycling two-page flyer provides six sustainability questions for customers to consider when selecting a substrate provider. A “Product Life Cycle” diagram visually describes the importance of including best practices in sustainability throughout a product’s lifecycle.
The Care & Conserve four-page brochure demonstrates the company’s commitment to reduce/reuse/recycle through both an operations perspective and product perspective. It also describes customers’ roles in reducing waste and reusing product during the project-design phase.
For example, companies can receive all order acknowledgements and invoices electronically to reduce paper consumption. Company supply chain directives should require all paper used to manufacture the company’s paper-faced foamboards and its resinated paper sheets for furniture to be purchased from suppliers that participate in either the sustainable Forestry Initiative or Forestry Stewardship Council.
The pieces can be downloaded at www.alcancompositesusa.com. Printed copies can be ordered by calling (800) 626-3365 or emailing info.usa@alcan.com.
