Apple Store Burglars Steal 436 iPhones After Cutting Hole in Wall of Neighboring Store

Police called the theft a “well-organized operation.”

Burglars made a creative entry into an Apple store in Lynnwood, WA, leaving with a heap of electronics.

The burglars broke into the Apple store at Alderwood Mall by cutting a hole in the bathroom wall of the neighboring espresso machine shop, then heisting about $500,000 worth of iPhones, iPads and Apple watches, KOMO News reports.

“Our front door was locked. They pried our front door open,” Seattle Coffee Gear Regional Manager Eric Marks told the outlet. “[It was a] 24-by-18 hole cut in the wall into what appears to be the back room of the Apple store. I’m surprised we were the conduit for them to get to the Apple store. I had no clue we were so close or adjacent to them.”

Maren McKay, a communications manager for the Lynnwood Police Department, said “approximately 436 iPhones” were stolen.

After reviewing surveillance footage, the police characterized the theft as a “well-organized operation,” according to the article.
