Bayer MaterialScience Polycarbonate Sheet

Designed for backlit applications

Published

on

Bayer MaterialScience (Sheffield, MA) is announcing two new polycarbonate-sheet products: Makrolon® DX-NR polycarbonate sheet and Makrolon® Lumen XT LC0.
The DX-NR sheet provides high optical performance that balances light diffusion and transmission, the company states. It achieves outdoor weatherability from a co-extruded, UV-resistance technology, which makes it suitable for exterior applications. The material’s non-glossy and non-reflective appearance is designed to provide enhanced aesthetics.
The Lumen XT LC0 product expands diffusion-level options and enables the creation of more energy-efficient lighting fixtures. The material has achieved a UL 94 V-2 flammability rating, the company reports. It resists high temperatures while providing uniform LED light diffusion, minimizing hot spots and maximizing light transmission, the company adds.
