Bender Billboard Chooses Watchfire Digital Billboard

Says digital-billboard flexibility is a plus in the distressed economy

Watchfire Digital Outdoor (Danville, IL) has announced Hobbs, NM-based Bender Billboard has installed its first digital billboard, manufactured by Watchfire. The 19mm, 10 x 30-ft. billboard sits at one of Hobbs’ most heavily traveled intersections, with approximately 110,000 cars passing by daily. This marks Watchfire’s first billboard installation in New Mexico and the first digital billboard in Lea County.

Bobby Pennell, Bender’s owner and president, visited the manufacturing facility of Watchfire and a competitor, and chose Watchfire.

Pennell said, “The Watchfire billboard has done an amazing job in New Mexico’s harsh environment, already having survived two sandstorms with no problems.”

Since the billboard went live this summer, Bender Billboard has expanded its customer base to include smaller companies and those that need to update their advertisements frequently. Bender said the digital billboard enables more “mom and pop” businesses to increase their advertising in this struggling economy.

“I’ve been able to provide some of the smaller businesses in Hobbs a way to advertise despite the fact that times are tough right now,” Pennell said. “Because digital is changeable with the click of a mouse, and not static like vinyl, I’ve been able to spread the ad space across several businesses, making the cost per ad much more reasonable. The smaller businesses in town love it!”
