Chicago Goes Bigger for Stanley Cup Celebration

Published

on

The Chicago Blackhawks, who’ve waited nearly half a century to celebrate a Stanley Cup title, celebrated in grand style. On behalf of the city of Chicago, rental company GoVision positioned a 19 x 33-ft. “Go Bigger” Daktronics mobile unit at the corner of Michigan Ave. and Wacker Dr., near the celebration stage. A second, 9 x 12-ft. GoTron LED unit was stationed further down Michigan.
The “GoBigger” unit, which is reportedly the world’s largest mobile LED screen, features Daktronics HD-16 LED video technology. GoVision microwaved the program signal from its switching studio within the GoBigger unit three blocks away to the GoTron unit, and supported the production with two cameras.
This was the second year in a row that GoVision was enlisted for a Stanley Cup celebration. Pittsburgh also brought in GoBigger to broadcast the festivities during its victory parade for the Penguins in 2009.
