The CNN Los Angeles news bureau, in Hollywood, CA, recently renovated the building’s façade along its landmark location on Sunset Blvd. Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD), installed a 16mm outdoor LED video ribbon display that wraps four, 90° corners outside the building’s front wall.

Perched 24 ft. above the ground outside the building’s main storefront entrance, the approximately 3-ft.-tall Daktronics video display spans more than 125 ft. as it bends along the building’s wall façade. Presently, the display features promotional video for “Larry King Live” and other CNN programming but plans for running live RSS news headline feeds currently are under way.

The intersection of Sunset and Cahuenga boulevards, located directly outside the building, was renamed “Larry King Square,” July 10, in honor of the longtime CNN talk-show host.

The ribbon, which uses RGB LED technology, presents live and recorded video images, animation and graphics with wide-angle visibility. CNN’s new video display operates with Daktronics Venus® 7000 controller and VLink® video processor.
