Evonik Cyro LLC (Parsippany, NJ) is announcing its Acrylite® LED optimized letter block that is designed to be backlit with embedded LEDs. The specially formulated cast acrylic is designed to offer optimum light diffusion and eliminate LED hot spots. The machineable material is 100% recyclable.
When used to manufacture channel letters, savings are obtained by not needing an aluminum channel or a diffuser film, the company reports. However, secondary colors may be added by applying a translucent film prior to machining. The sides of the letters can also be covered with a coating or film to create a halo effect.
