Glantz Induction Sign Lighter

Designed as an HID replacement

N. Glantz & Son (Louisville, KY) is announcing its BeBrite brand, induction sign lighters that are powered by Fulham (Hawthorne, CA) and designed as alternatives to HID lighting. The company explains that induction is essentially a modification of fluorescent technology that produces light by using magnets on the exterior of fully enclosed lamps (instead of electrodes on the ends of tubular lamps). This extends lamp life up to five times the longevity of HID lamps, while achieving approximately 50% energy savings, the company reports.

A 250W induction sign lighter has been developed for use inside large, single- or double-faced signs; it offers equivalent light output compared with a 400W HID unit, according to the company. Induction offers hot and cold instant restrike. By comparison, HID needs time to warm up from a cold start, the company states, and a hot HID needs time to cool down.

An 80W version is available for smaller sign cabinets. More information is available at www.nglantz.com.
