Lumex (Palatine, IL and Chu Dung, Hsin Chu County, Taiwan, ROC), a designer and manufacturer of optoelectronic components, devices and displays, is introducing the TitanBrite™ RGB, a 3-watt, square-shaped, SMT LED technology. Suitable for such sign applications as highway billboards, blimp and transit signage, LED videoboards and traffic signs, the LED can be used in applications that require increased resolution for close viewing and for integration of dynamic, smaller images.
The square shape of the 10mm x 10mm module can maximize design efficiency and array-formation opportunities, as well as facilitate assembly. The company reports the use of a single TitanBrite RGB LED can result in up to a 30% cost savings as well as a 70% real-estate savings, compared to the use of individual red, green and blue packages. Replacing three parts with one part number also simplifies ordering and maintenance processes. One package that combines the three colors with a flat epoxy lens helps signmakers match view angles and color.
The RoHS-compliant TitanBrite RGBs contain three, individual, 1W dies in red (636nm), green (525nm) and blue (470nm). Stock samples are available; production quantities arrive in eight to 10 weeks.
