Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (Tokyo) has installed a 49 x 29.5-ft. Diamond Vision LED display system at the Boat Racing Assn.’s Toda Boat Racecourse in Toda City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The new screen will officially be illuminated on March 26, 2010, the 53rd anniversary of the Toda Gran Prix race.
The display incorporates LEDs aligned vertically and horizontally with a 10mm dot pitch, in a 1,536 x 896 pixel matrix.
The screen displays HD video content while retaining the size of the previous screen. The display system, which faces the main stand across the racing surface, will display such programs as race playbacks, contestant profiles and gaming information in conjunction with another, adjacent 49 x 29.5-ft. Diamond Vision screen installed by Mitsubishi in 2001.
The new screen, which forms part of the revamped visual information system launched in 2007, will replace the facility’s current, main CRT display, built and installed by Mitsubishi in 1996.
