Osram Opto Semiconductors (Sunnyvale, CA) is converting two chip-manufacturing facilities from 4- to 6-in. wafers, which the company says will increase production capacity for white LEDs by late 2012. A new production facility under construction in Penang, Malaysia will allow for reallocation of existing space in Regensburg, Germany.
