Creating a zoo on Salt Lake City’s streets

Published

on

As motorists maneuver their cars over seemingly endless miles of asphalt, through interminable traffic snarls, images that beckon stressed drivers to dream of exotic, pristine destinations may serve as pleasant diversions from the monotony of the daily commute.

Ferrari Color’s Salt Lake City production facility granted drivers such a mental escape with a full van wrap that promotes Salt the city’s Hogle Zoo. Its 42-acre campus welcomed approximately one million visitors, who enjoyed its Asian Highland feline exhibit, among other amenities, in 2008. Ferrari’s Matt Bates designed the program with Adobe® Illustrator® software.

The graphics comprises 3M™’s Controltac™ with Comply™ air-egress film, which Ferrari output on its Durst Rho 160R UV inkjet printer and protected with 3M’s 8519 luster-finish overlaminate.

“Our goal was to turn this from a simple vehicle wrap into a driving billboard experience,” Heidi Hall, Ferrari’s marketing director, said. “Each side presents different flora and fauna, so each angle offers a unique perspective.”
