SID Announces 2010 Display of the Year Awards

Society for Information Display (SID) has announced its 2010 Display of the Year Award (DYA) winners. The DYAs recognize innovative display products, components and applications that hold the most promise for shaping the future of the global display industry. The DYAs are awarded each year with Gold and Silver honors in three categories: Display of the Year, Display Application of the Year, and Display Component of the Year. Here are this year’s winners, announced May 26:

  • Display of the Year, Gold Award: LG Display’s 47-in. 3D LCD panel, which the company states is the first commercially available TFT-LCD module for 3D televisions in the mid-40-inch range.
  • Display of the Year, Silver Award: Pixel Qi’s 3Qi Multimode LCD, which renders quality full-color images, full-motion video, and high screen luminance even outdoors, the company reports.
  • Display Component of the Year, Gold Award: N-Trig DuoSense for pen, touch and multi-touch devices.
  • Display Component of the Year, Silver Award: RealD XL Cinema System, streoscopic 3-D cinema technology
  • Display Application of the Year, Gold Award: Nikon COOLPIX S1000pj, the reportedly first compact, digital camera to feature a built-in projector
  • Display Application of the Year, Silver Award: NVIDIA 3D Vision technology, comprising software and wireless active-shutter glasses that facilitate 3-D gaming, video playback and movie viewing.
