WE RECENTLY RECEIVED THE following question for “Ask Signs of the Times” in a Brain Squad survey. Due to the terrific details provided by Derek Atchley, owner of Atchley Graphics (Columbus, OH), to whom we turned for an answer to the question, we were unable to fit it in the March issue, but we bring you both the question and expert answer here. Thanks, Derek!
Are there any wide format print, signage or wrap industry organizations that specifically help develop companies in this industry in terms of business development, scalability, funding, etc.?
“Here’s a listing of sources, in no particular order, that are great,” Derek says. “Hopefully, I haven’t forgotten anyone.”
- The Wrap Institute
- Printing United Alliance
- International Sign Association
- Graphic Media Alliance
- Signs of the Times
- GRAPHICS PRO
- UASG
- WrapperMapper
- WrapIQ
- NPSOA
- Wide Format Impressions
- Central Ohio Sign Association (Regional to us — there are others)
- Midwest Sign Association (Regional to us — there are others)
- Sign Research Foundation
- Various Manufacturers, such as: 3M, Avery Dennison, Arlon, ORAFOL, LG, etc.
“Some of these sources are free to access, while others are subscription- or membership-based,” Derek says.” Some of these provide full-bore education and training, as well as certifications, and some have robust programs. Others are meant to provide some tips and tricks, tutorials and more basic sources of information.”
