YESCO to Present Historic Sign at 100th Anniversary Event

YESCO (Salt Lake City) has announced that will the company will celebrate its 100th anniversary, as well as its decades-long relationship with the Eccles family, by presenting an historic First Security Bank sign to Spencer Fox Eccles at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah on Dec. 8, according to a press release from the company.

In 1928, YESCO founder Thomas Young, Sr. created the original First Security Bank sign for brothers Marriner and George Eccles, the founders of First Security Corp., then located in Ogden, UT, again, per the company. Also originally located in Ogden, YESCO was founded by Thomas Young, Sr., in 1920 as a purveyor of gold-leaf window lettering, hand-painted signs and engraved coffin plates. Today, the company is known for creating some of the most internationally recognizable, large-scale electric signs in the world.

The First Security Bank sign being presented on Dec. 8 adorned the First Security Bank building at 79 South Main St. in Salt Lake City until 2000, when the bank was sold to Wells Fargo. It will be permanently displayed at the David Eccles School of Business in the seventh-floor First Security Board Room.

Face coverings and social distancing of six feet (for the event) are required inside all University of Utah buildings.
