A New York City college student is lucky to be alive after the arm of a boom truck fell on her car while she was at a stoplight.

Witnesses rushed to pull 22-year-old Danielle Cruz from the vehicle, who somehow escaped with only minor injuries, CBS News reports.

“The firefighters had even told me that if I had driven, like, even like 2 inches forward that I would not be standing here today,” she told the outlet.

Ali Algaheim, who works in a nearby store, said the crane collapse produced an explosion-like noise. “First thing that came to my mind was a D train collision or a bomb,” he said.

CBS reported the findings of a preliminary investigation by the NYC Department of Buildings, which said the truck was lifting a load of rebar from a trailer onto a roof when the arm of the boom failed. It collapsed onto the front half of the car, destroying a traffic light and spilling the metal bars onto the road.

A surveillance camera captured the incident:

The construction company that was operating the truck has been issued several summonses for safety violations.
