Ledtronics Inc. (Torrance, CA) is announcing concave cylindrical 5mm discrete LEDs that reportedly emit light of equal brightness at the center and edges. Concave lenses spread out the collimated beam of light that LEDs emit. The LEDs can be used for such applications as backlighting, medical equipment and channel-letter illumination. The product is available in six sunlight-visible colors: green, cool white, blue, yellow, red and orange. The LEDs offer an average lifespan of 100,000-plus hours, the company reports, and they can be used as individual pixels in a large-dot-matrix screen, full-color screens, moving signs and displays.
