Councilperson Reprimanded after Allegations of Stolen Signs

Campaign manager removed competitor’s signs

Centennial, CO councilperson Sue Bosier has been reprimanded and publicly censured after allegations she stole campaign signs and lied to police about it, according to the Denver Post.

Bosier, who was campaign manager for Lauri Clapp in a race for Arapahoe County commissioner, took down illegally placed signs for Clapp’s opponent, Nancy Sharpe. Sharpe’s signs had been placed in the public right of way, but the county’s sign-code enforcement officers are tasked with removing noncompliant signs.

When stopped by police, Bosier identified herself as a city employee and said she was responsible for removing the signs.

At the time (August 7, 2010), Bosier told local ABC-affiliate 7NEWS, “’I was actually headed to the Walmart store. And I just saw these 10 signs, one after the other, on Orchard Road in the right of way, and I just couldn’t stand it.”

Neither Bosier, nor Clapp’s son, who accompanied her, were charged with theft.
