Published

on

President Obama visited Cree (Durham, NC) in North Carolina’s Research Triangle on June 21 to meet with the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. He also toured Cree’s LED manufacturing lines and addressed company employees.

The council was formed to advise the president on economic improvement, job creation and competition in the global business marketplace. During the meeting, Obama received recommendations to increase the number of U.S. engineering graduates, speed tourist visas, and streamline construction-permit processes, the News Observer reported.

Obama visited Cree once before, during a 2008 campaign stop.
