This month, we’re reviewing two, new, digital-print machines from Gerber Scientific Products. Although both machines provide full-color, outdoor-durable, digital-output capabilities, they’re unique. One is a redesign of a tried-and-true workhorse, and the other demonstrates new technology. However, both were designed from the ground up with sign-industry and signmaker needs in mind.

These aren’t general-purpose printers shoehorned into the signshop. These devices were designed to produce signage and work well with other typical signshop equipment.

The EDGE FX is a redesign of the successful Edge thermal-transfer printer. Even with the market shifting toward wider solutions, sometimes being short isn’t so bad.

The SOLARA UV wide-format digital product uses UV technology. Notably, this particular UV printer was designed with signmakers
