Guess for the Cure

One man gets the community involved in a vehicle wrap for a good cause.

Every year, Skip Wilkens of Letter Imaging Products and Services (Fairfield, OH) helps promote breast-cancer awareness in honor of his sister, a survivor of the disease. This year, Wilkens mobilized fellow local business owners, and one lucky contestant for the cause by wrapping a Scion.

The local Susan G. Komen for the Cure office okayed the project and provided the computer-desktop wallpaper used as the basis for the wrap design. Performance Toyota donated the vehicle, and Avery Dennison donated MPI 1005 EZ RS vinyl and DOL 1000 overlaminate. Speedpro Imaging Cincinnati, which has an ongoing partnership with Letter Imaging, output the graphic on a Roland SOLJet. Letter Imaging’s three Fellers-certified wrappers handled the installation.

The graphic was tweaked in Adobe Photoshop CS2, and Wilkens consulted his sister for encouraging words to use in the background. For a $5 donation, people could guess how many ribbons comprised the entire graphic (they’re even on the roof). The winner gets to drive the wrapped vehicle for a year.

The car is making the rounds to the companies involved as well as other local businesses. It’s also been featured at various breast-cancer awareness events throughout the Cincinnati area.
