Handheld Pantone “Capsure” measures colors
Pantone LLC (Carlstadt, NJ) an X-Rite company has announced its CAPSURE™, a compact, handheld device that allows design professionals to instantly measure and match color (to more than 8,000 Pantone colors) from numerous sources, including hard-to-measure patterns, textures and open-weave textiles.
The $649device uses tri-directional, image-capture technology that eliminates shadows and interference inherent to patterned and textured materials and surfaces. It illuminates the surface being measured from three different directions while simultaneously recording 27 color-accurate images in 1.6 seconds, to extract up to four dominant colors. Pantone said you can clearly identify the desired color on the devices 1.75 in. screen. Capsure comes pre-loaded with all Pantone Color Libraries and it includes multiple Pantone libraries and guides.
