HP (Palo Alto, CA) is introducing the HP Scitex XP5500, an inkjet, industrial print machine with up to 360-dpi resolution. It prints at speeds up to 3,500 sq. ft. per hour, the company reports. The machine offers roll-to-toll handling, multi-roll printing, and is compatible with roll-fed media up to 5 meters (16.6 ft.) wide.

The piezoelectric inkjet uses UV-curable, pigmented inks (CMY and black) with 16 printheads and an 80-pl ink-drop size. The machine is designed for use with Caldera’s GrandRIP+ or Onyx’s ProductionHouse software and all popular, graphic-file formats.
