IAC Building Features Media Wall

Barry Diller’s AIC/InterActiveCorp. sprawls across an Internet and retail empire, but now resides in a 10-story glass tower in Chelsea at a former truck garage on the West Side Highway between 18th and 19th streets. The geometric glass façade mimics wind-whipped sails along the Hudson River, across the West Side Highway.

The IAC headquarters, which is architect Frank Gehry’s first NYC building, features a floor-to-ceiling, interactive media wall that projects images of the company’s more than 50 brands. The screen runs the length of the building, 188 ft. The images are visible to passersby on foot and in cars through a horizontal band.

A smaller video wall, near the building entrance on 18th St., is positioned behind the lobby reception desk.

Both walls use a custom, dual-bounce mirror system that rotates the images from each projector, which creates a higher pixel density and helps feather the images together. Twenty one, 12,000 lumen, SXGA+ projectors are used.
