A large sign fell down at a popular taco festival in Westminster, CO on June 12, injuring three people, NBC partner 9NEWS Denver reports.

Four women were posing for a photo in front of the “I Love Tacos” free-standing letters at the Top Taco Festival when the sign fell on them. Celina Toney was the most heavily injured with a gash in her head, four fractured vertebrae and additional damage that requires physical therapy. Two ambulance arrived to take the injured to hospital following emergency response that Toney describes as “chaotic.”

DiningOut Event, the organizers of the Top Taco Festival, later offered to reimburse Toney for her tickets. However, she is seeking accountability and answers for why the large sign could fall, as well as clearer safety protocols for future events.

“While we followed all emergency protocols and had EMT and law enforcement personnel on-site, this was an unprecedented and unfortunate incident,” DiningOut Event is quoted in a statement published by 9NEWS.
