6 is National Night Out Day. Celebrated on the first Tuesday in August, it promotes police-community partnerships in neighborhoods across the US and raises awareness. Origins date back to the early 1970’s. The day has been celebrated since 1984.

10 Schlep out your junk for National Garage Sale Day on AUGUST 10. The second Saturday in August calls one and all to set up tables and price your wares. There should be no question that your garage sale signs will be the best — by far — in your neighborhood.

17 National Thrift Shop Day is AUGUST 17. Just in case you’re already missing the schlock you sold the week before, get ready for some bargain shopping! Nearly every town in the US includes a thrift shop or second-hand store. Some may even want short-term window splashes.

30 Colleen Paige, pet and family lifestyle expert, created National Beach Day for AUGUST 30 in 2014 to celebrate beaches and the importance of keeping them clean. If you live near a beach, pitch in. If you don’t, you can likely find a local natural beautification project. Have fun!
