The Newburg, OR city council has approved an amendment to sign codes that govern signage in the city’s historic Civic Corridor Overlay, according to minutes from a May 12th planning-commission meeting. Old regulations required new signage to meet four of six specified design principles.

The new ordinance (see p. 140-41) still requires that sign lettering not exceed 12 in., but only requires one design element to be present. Signs that include a copper, bronze or brass element, brick monument construction, raised-relief sign lettering, metal or masonry engravings, or signs mounted to brackets are now allowed.
