Novus Imaging, PrinterEvolution Launched by Print-Industry Veterans

Sykes and Mills take on printer, ink markets

Kevin Sykes and Mike Mills, formerly of EFI-Vutek and Redwood Technologies LLC, respectively, have partnered to launch Novus Imaging (Moultonboro, NH), an environmentally focused, grand-format printer and ink company. The company says it has developed environmentally friendly alternatives to UV inks.

Novus Imaging plans to offer a line of Synergia printers designed to have minimal emissions, no VOCs, and twice the speed of current printers on the market. The company says it will offer a three-year warranty for its machines.

A sister company, PrinterEvolution (Louisville, CO), also bears Sykes’ and Mills’ influence. Founded by Tara and Greg Lamb (founders of Global Imaging and Global Garage), the company manufactures after-market, upgrade kits for grand-format printers, as its name suggests. Sykes is the company’s CEO; Mills engineered its upgrade kits. The company says it is the only manufacturer of after-market upgrade kits, which are designed to help shop owners avoid the expense of a new machine.
