Quality Sign Introduces Retrofitting Program

Also creates double-faced, LED-illuminated pylon signs using new lighting technology from GE

Quality Sign (Jacksonville, FL), a national sign-engineering and manufacturing company, is introducing a sign-retrofitting program. Retrofitting existing exterior signage with LED-lighting technology can reduce energy costs. Use of LED lights, which are powered by 12V instead of 110W, can offer 60-80% energy savings, and an average, two-year return on investment, the company states.
“Many companies are implementing LED lighting in new or replacement signs, but any existing sign can be retrofitted with LED lights on site within a few days,” explained Roger Williams, Quality Sign’s CEO. “Retrofitting signs is a cost-effective tool, especially for companies with multiple office or hotel locations that may not have the budget for or need new signs.”
For customers who wish to commission new signs, Quality Sign says it’s the only sign manufacturer in the country that currently creates double-faced, LED-illuminated pylon signs using new lighting technology from GE. Recently, the company partnered with one of the world’s largest convenience store chains to manufacture green, LED-lit signage for all of the chain’s new stores across the country.
Some local or state government agencies may provide financial aid to companies for LED retrofits through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. The program, being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provides funds to local and state governments to develop and implement projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use in communities. More information about the federal program can be found at www.eere.energy.gov.
