8 Celebrate National Brownie Day on DECEMBER 8. Brownies date back to the early 1900’s and are essentially universal now. The day’s an opportunity to have colleagues bring in their favorite recipes to share and sample — and maybe win a prize for best at the company.

14 is author Shirley Jackson’s Birthday. “Who?” you ask. In 1948, she wrote a short story, “The Lottery,” about a small town with an annual lottery no one wanted to win. Perhaps you read it in school. If you did (or do) read the story, you will never forget it!

18 For some reason National Re-Gifting Day is DECEMBER 18, a week before Christmas. One of the many actions/expressions coined by Seinfeld, re-gifting can be a fun way to offload unwanted gifts. Someone in the shop might want that cheese straightener.

23 Also thanks to Seinfeld, “there’s a Festivus for the rest of us” on DECEMBER 23. George Costanza’s father Frank began his celebration with “the airing of grievances” before quickly moving to the “feats of strength.” However you do the holidays, have fun and see you in 2026!
