ShopBot Tools Inc. (Durham, NC) is unveiling its Handibot, a portable, robotic power tool that works like a miniature CNC machine designed for cutting, drilling and carving into wood, plastics, urethane foam, composite substrates and other rigid materials. The company offers “apps” that can be purchased and downloaded to a smartphone, tablet or PC; each app will serve a specific production purpose. If a job’s work area is larger than the Handibot’s footprint, it can be used to create jigs, or you can use the automated system to register the tool across large work surfaces.
