Magnet-laden cars lure potential customers

Published

on

Take1ifyoudare.com (Oceanside, CA) is offering cash-strapped commuters free gas in exchange for the use of their car as an advertising vehicle. The program pays drivers of stylish cars who frequent high foot-traffic areas, including malls, tradeshows, and sporting events, to cover the cars with magnets and a large “take 1 if you dare” decal.

Potential customers are drawn to the vehicle by the decal, and can take a magnet if they’re interested in the product advertised. The company says this guerilla tactic allows customers to self-select as part of the target audience and offers a higher ROI than traditional advertising.

Magnets that aren’t taken can be reused in future advertising campaigns, and Take1 offers groups of vehicles that can be strategically placed at large events.

Cars used in the promotion include the Toyota Prius, Scion, Honda Fit, Nissan Sentra, VW Golf and the Ford Fusion, among other options.
