During the late 1950s, London Underground made sweeping changes to the Notting Hill “tube” station, which includes replacing its elevator lifts with escalators and abandoning the previously used Central Line station. In doing so, they sealed off the walls – and left the poster advertisements intact. A current wave of renovations unearthed the vintage posters, which hearken back to a seemingly more innocent era of out-of-home advertising. However, vintage-poster fans and curiosity seekers will be kept at bay; the abandoned passages are inaccessible to the public.
